Seun Kuti: Part 2
Son of Nigerian music legend Fela Kuti, saxophonist and vocalist Seun Kuti has been performing on stage since he was nine years old, beginning his career as a backup singer in his father's legendary band Egypt 80. Now, with the same charisma, energy and incendiary spirit that made his father a world music superstar, Seun Kuti leads Fela's original 20-piece group in an explosive dance party, featuring the Kuti family's signature Afro-beat magic and social consciousness laced with a contemporary mix of urban funk, soulful grooves and hip-hop rhythms. The concert will feature music from the group's 2008 self-titled CD, as well as some Fela Kuti classics.--UCLA Live

USA Today identified her as one of "the singers most likely to be an operatic superstar of the 21st century." Performing a broad repertoire in the world’s great opera houses, Graves is particularly well-known for her signature portrayals of the title roles in Carmen and Samson et Dalila, both of which partnered her with the great Placido Domingo, among others. She has also performed a wide-ranging repertoire with leading symphony orchestras and conductors throughout the world.

The Suzhou Kun Opera Theater of Jiangsu Province
From the mists of the Ming Dynasty comes a tale of love, beauty and marriage so profound that it still resonates with modern audiences more than 400 years later. One of the world’s greatest artistic accomplishments, The Peony Pavilion is the supreme example of Chinese kunqu opera, an art form combining literature, music, dance and drama. No one has succeeded more brilliantly in interpreting Tang Xianzu’s epic love story (often compared to Romeo and Juliet) than the esteemed Taiwanese literary scholar and producer Kenneth Pai. This abridged version of the original sweeping text features a handpicked young cast from Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China, with exquisite handmade costumes.

Earl Klugh and Ronnie Laws in Concert
Two of the most distinctive instrumental voices in Smooth Jazz join in a night of pure, rich, musical electricity. Ronnie Laws has been flooding the airwaves since 1970 when he started playing with the Jazz Crusaders. His warm, powerful sax sound has earned several Gold records that only hint at the excitement of his charismatic live performances. The music of Grammy-winning guitar master Earl Klugh is a direct expression of his many and varied influences – gentle Brazilian rhythms, blazing Fusion and old school R&B.
